Kogi gov election: Lulu faults Yahaya Bello over landlord’s claim

Former Chairman of the Nigeria football federation (NFF) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Kogi state, Sani Lulu, has dismissed claim by governor Yahaya Bello that he cannot be defeated in the state governorship poll billed to hold in November this year.

The incumbent governor Yahaya Bello was quoted to have said: “I am the governor today and Insha Allah, l will return back as the governor for another four years, after the November 16 election. As for the ticket, the analogy is that the tenant cannot send the landlord out of his house. So, APC in Kogi State was rebuilt by me.”

But reacting to the comment on Tuesday in Abuja when he visited the national secretariat of APC, Lulu who expressed concern over the appalling level of governance in Kogi state described Bello as a “wishful rant” of somebody who knows clearly that he cannot covet kogi state as his property.

Said he: “Is it possible to own Kogi state that belongs to the millions of Igalas, Ibiras and Yoruba people? We all own Kogi state. Kogites are the landlords in their state not the governor who is the tenant. The electorates who are yearning for good governance would decide who to elect as their governor in November.”

Lulu who made reference to his experience in both the private and public sector over the years assured that he has the wherewithal to turn around the fortunes of Kogi state if voted into power at the poll.

“What is happening in Kogi state is a serious issue. The entire country is conscious of what is happening in the state blessed with both human and natural resources. Kogi state should not be where we are now if well administered. Kogites need somebody like me with high level of accountability and zero tolerance for corruption to take Kogi state to the next level of development.”
