Kogi council chair urged to wade into health workers’ strike

Special Adviser to Kogi state Governor on Free Medical/Charity, Captain Yakubu Okatahi, has appealed to the chairmen of the 21 local government areas to wade into the strike embarked upon by the medical health workers union.
He said the over three months strike if not resolved was capable of crippling the health system in the rural areas.
Okatahi made the appeal yesterday at Ihima in Okehi local government during the closing ceremonies of the fourth stanza of the free medical services initiated by the present administration.

He said the strike had already affected pregnant women and children in the council areas.
The special Adviser who pleaded with the union to have a re-think  and settle their grievances  amicably with the constituted authorities, appealed to the council chairmen to dialogue and resolve with the leaders of the health workers  in the interest of the people in the rural areas.
Commenting on the free rural medical services, Okatahi said the programme had gone a long way in providing quality health services to the rural dwellers in the state, assuring that the programme would continue because of its significant.
