Kogi, Bayelsa: INEC warns parties against late submission of candidates’ names

The National Electoral Commission (INEC) Thursday reminded  political parties that conducted governorship primaries in Kogi and Bayelsa states that the deadline for the submission of their candidates’ names is September 9, 2019.

According to a statement by chairman Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Festus Okoye, political parties are  to submit names of their liaison officers who would be making the submissions through a letter jointly signed by National Chairman and National Secretaries of the parties on or before September 8, 2019.

While reminding the parties to make the submissions at the media center of the national headquarters of INEC, Maitama, Abuja, it urged the parties to strictly comply with the timelines and schedule of activities adding that the commission would not under any circumstances entertain late submissions. 

Kogi guber: Dino, Abubakar petition PDP over Wada’s emergence

Two aspirants in the Kogi governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Dino Melaye and Abubakar Ibrahim, son of former Kogi state governor, Ibrahim Idris, petitioned the party’s appeal panel over the emergence of Musa Wada as the party’s candidate for the governorship poll scheduled for November 16.

The two aspirants made their reservations known when they separately met with the National Working Committee (NWC) behind closed doors at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Thursday, in Abuja.

Governor Umaru Fintiri led committee in Lokoja,  Kogi state had  Wednesday declared Wada who polled 748 as winner of the PDP primaries. He was followed by Ibrahim who polled 710 votes to finish as runner up, Senator Dino garnered 70 votes to finish fourth.
