Kogi Assembly confirms Ohere commissioner

The Kogi state Assembly, Thursday confirmed Abubakar Sadiku Ohere, as substantive commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Ohere’s confirmation was sequel to the letter sent to the House by Governor Yahaya Bello nominating him as commissioner.

Speaker of the House, Matthew Kolawale, who presented the commissioner-nominee to members at the floor, said Ohere  served creditably as the special adviser to the state governor on local government and chieftaincy affairs.

He added that the nominee is known to all members of the House and craves the indulgence of other members to allow him to bow and go.

In view of this, the majority leader of the House, Abdullahi Bello Balogun, representing Ajaokuta state constituency,  moved that Ohere should bow and go and it  was seconded by Suleiman Attajachi, representing Idah state constituency.

Until his nomination for the position, Ohere was the special adviser to the governor on local government and chieftaincy affairs.

His administration brought innovation and reformation to the local government which today has been replicated in some states of the federation as he was the first to start local government financial autonomy.
