Killings in North unjustifiable — Yero

By Samuel Aruwan

Kaduna state Governor, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has stated that killings in the North and other parts of the country were unjustifiable.
Yero spoke through his aide on Islamic Affairs, Malam Halliru Maraya, at a two-day workshop organised for Southern Kaduna Senatorial zone tagged ‘One Family Under One God,’ organised by Global Peace Foundation.
He said: “All of us are one family of Adam and Eve and we are here to move the extended family forward. Life and properties are always destroyed during sectarian crises and we must not allow this to continue because we are one family. We should not allow what happened in the past to repeat itself again.

“If God had wanted us to be all Christians or Muslims, he would have done that. I would have been a pastor or a Reverend today if born into a Christian family. If God had wanted me to be a Bajju, Atyab, Jaba, Kanuri or Nupe, he would have done so. But I am a Hausa man, created in the Northern part of Kaduna, and no one should condemn God’s creature.”

Rev. Joseph Hayab, Yero’s aide on Christian Affairs, in his remarks, pleaded with the youth to avoid being manipulated and used as agents of crisis, saying that “we must reason always to avoid being manipulated for selfish goals.”
The Chief Imam of Wharf Road Mosque, Imam Muhammad Sani Isah, attributed crisis to improper teachings, saying: “We need to work hard and ensure that we adhere to proper teachings of both Christianity and Islam. This is my plea to our youths; we must tolerate one another and accept ourselves as Godly creatures.”
