Killings: DPO’s, traditional rulers failing security test – Cleric

Katsina based cleric, Sheikh Yakubu Musa Hassan, has placed the blame for the killings and armed banditry in the country on the doors of Divisional Police Officers (DPO’s) and District Heads, saying they fail on due diligence test.

Sheikh Yakubu Musa who is the National Chairman of JIBWIS Board of Trustees, advised the federal government to direct states to join hands with the Inspector General of Police and leaders of traditional institutions in detecting criminal elements at community levels and subdue their activities.

He called for the removal of DPO’s and traditional rulers who cannot use their network of offices in exposing criminals within their areas.

The clergyman also suggested that the ongoing military operations in some parts of the country should be supported with a community based exercise jointly carried out by the police and local leaders to flush out criminals from their holes.

Sheik Musa called on religious leaders from different faiths to compliment the federal government’s efforts in restoring peace and harmonious co-existence in the country.

He called on them to shun utterances that could instill hate rate among Nigerians rather they should pray to Allah to expose all those involved in planning and executing crimes in our urban and rural areas.
