‘Kidnapper’ sleeps off, wakes up in police cell

The Ondo State Police Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) have arrested a suspected kidnapper in Owo, Owo Local Government Area of the state, who reportedly over dosed and was arrested while sleeping.
The suspect, who was said to have slept for over 24 hours after his arrest at the scene of the operation, is suspected to have taken a large dose of drugs suspected to be Tramadol, was paraded while still sleeping at the Police Headquarters in Akure.
Parading the suspect, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state, Femi Joseph, explained that the suspect and his gang had invaded a pharmacy store in Owo to kidnap the owner of the store but he fell asleep after helping himself to some of the pills.
Joseph explained that the threeman gang invaded the store with a gun with the intention to kidnapping the owner, who raised alarm escaped through the back door.
According to the spokesperson, while other members of the gang fled on their operational motorcycle, the suspect seized a motorcycle belonging to a customer whom was making his way into the store at the time of the incident but stumbled while he was trying to ride the motorcycle.
He said the suspect was apprehended but had been sleeping for more than 24 hours after his arrest while a 400mg tablet of tramadol was recovered from his pocket, adding that one locally cut to size locally made barrel was also recovered from him.
The PPRO said that another suspect, Ebere Victor, who allegedly invaded a residence in Oba-Ile Area of the town with the intention to rob, was arrested on Sunday, The PPRO explained that policemen from the area responded to a distress call which led to the arrest of the Victor who also went to sleep after his arrest, noting that a distress call was received that hoodlums scaled the fence of a house and entered the house.
He said detectives were mobilised to the scene and Victor was arrested.
The spokesperson further stated that, “On interrogation, he confessed to scaling the fence to rob and that he was under influence of Tramadol and that he took 600mg of Tramadol and (SK), a brand of India hemp.” He said investigation is on-going to arrest fleeing members of the gang
