Ketchup gets a brand endorsement by his name

Asked in a recent interview how he came about his rare and funny stage name, Nigerian fast-rising Dance-hall act Emmanuel Nkemjika Onyido, a.k.a Ketchup explains;
“I got the name Ketchup from friends because I have been known to bring life into a gathering. When my friends and I go out and they just sit around in the VIP playing with their phones, I’ll step into that sort of scenario and just spice up the place. We all know the huge difference ketchup makes to chips”.
However, while he was going with the stage name, Ketchup most likely never envisaged that he would one day be awarded a multi-million Naira contract because of that name. Now, Lagos based fast food chain Magrellos has signed a partnership deal with the dance-hall musician.
The partnership which is in the company’s quest to grow her brand will see Ketchup on the forefront of a new campaign for the fast food, tagged ‘Ketchup on the Chips’, and would see Ketchup’s image used in Advertising, Communication and Marketing roles.
The singer rose to fame with his hit single “Show me your Rozay” in 2013 and is also known to always say “Ketchup on the Chips” at the end of all his songs.
