KEDCO pledges enhanced service delivery

Chairman, Board of Directors, Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Alhassan Dantata, has described enhanced service delivery as the company’s major cardinal thrust and that the power outfit was ready to serve its teaming customers with vigour and diligence.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ workshop in Kano Dantata said the electricity company was fully committed to the rehabilitation of its service facilities for improved power supply, adding that new meters would also be installed in order to check the incessant complaints of crazy bills.

He said the provision of electricity on a regular basis would also create job opportunities in the face of the spectre of unemployment rocking the nation, stressing that a lot of problems would had been solved if the provision of electricity was constant.

He said: “KEDCO is ready to enhance its service delivery and we are taken steps to rehabilitate all our installations that are moribund.
“We are also installing new meters to check grievances associated with crazy bills.  We are also looking into these and something would be done about it.”
He, however, stated KEDCO’s areas of coverage are Kano Jigawa and Katsina states and called on consumers in the three states to strive and honour their obligations to enable the electricity company forge ahead with its initiative of ensuring a robust power supply.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company, Dr. Jamil Gwamna, said the company would soon embark on a tariff reclassification regime with a view to determining the appropriate class an electricity consumer should belong.
He said “KEDCO is heavily investing into the power sector under a five-year rejuvenation plan,” adding that millions of dollars would be sunk into the project for optimum result.

“All that we need is equity and fairness one is not expected to jump from one tariff class to another to avoid paying high tariff, adding that KEDCO would only charge every consumer according to the level of his consumption, he called on electricity consumers in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states to extend their hands of cooperation to the company and avoid anything capable of turning the hands of the clock backwards.
