Kebbi police smash kidnap syndicate, rescue 2 victims

Kebbi state Police Command has smashed a kidnap syndicate and rescued two victims in the state.
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the command headquarters Birnin Kebbi, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mustapha Suleiman, said the command swung into action after receiving a report from the father of the kidnapped Ekene Christopher, a 10 year old, and Chizara Nwori, aged 11, who were rescued unhurt at Dadin Kowa area of Niger state.
Father of the victim, Christoper, narrated that his son was kidnapped while coming back home from Anglican Church, Birnin Kebbi and was whisked away to unknown destination for five days before the eventual rescue by the police operatives.
“On the 5th of November, 2017, a hidden number called the victim’s mother, Mrs Angella Christopher, with a view to negotiating the N2.5 million ransom demanded by the kidnappers before he could be released,” he added.
According to him, the principal suspect, Chibuka Njoku, was arrested along side Emmanuel Nwonko, Sunday Oche, Mohammad Suleman, Taiye Olenju, Obinna Ogu and Sera Ibrahim.
DSP Mustapha called on the general public to report to police any suspicious character around them, noting that, that is the only way to help the police reduce crime in the state.
