Kebbi Hill-Top Creative Arts partners ANA

The Kebbi Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation has expressed readiness to collaborate with the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Kebbi State Chapter with a view to attaining the literary objectives of both organisations.

The State Coordinator, Jamilu Magaji, while briefing newsmen on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Kebbi State Chapter on Wednesday, disclosed that the Foundation had, over the years, published teenagers as well as inculcated reading culture through book development initiatives across the country.

To this end, according to him, collaborating with a literary body like ANA which has national outlook would go a long way in cementing a literary relationship, especially as the foundation had carved its niche in promote teen authorship among primary and secondary school students in the country.

“Some of our mentees have already written their names in gold. Specifically, in April, 2017, some participants groomed under the tutelage of the state chapter, took part in the Nigerian Festival of Teen Authors (NIFESTEENA), in Minna where they won four trophies which include 1st in poetry performance, 1st in photography, 2nd in painting and 3rd overall best winner,” Magaji said.

The Coordinator added that while one Maimuna Hammani was the first published teen author in the state, other mentees were about to release their poetry volumes.

On his part, the State Chairman of ANA, Abubakar Kalgo who recalled his encounter with the founder and Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation’s National President, BM Dzukogi, was enthusiastic about the visit.

He maintained that the Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation had been one of the success stories of creative writing in Nigeria.

He stressed that ANA appreciated the kind gesture wholeheartedly, adding that the collaboration would add value to the literary activities in Kebbi State.

Also speaking, the Ag. Secretary of ANA Kebbi, Muhammad Gulma, encouraged mentees to consider writing in English, Hausa and other vernacular languages, maintaining that it would go a long way in appreciating the beauty and nature of the languages.

In appreciation, Dr. Zara’u Sidi, expressed delight over the achievement of Maimuna Hammani who was able to realize her artistic potentials under the Foundation. She commended the Foundation for the giant strides while appealing for more concerted efforts.

Highlights of the occasion was presentations of books to both parties.
