Kebbi: Governor Idris orders the immediate reopening of the college of health Jega

Kebbi state governor, Nasir Idris, has directed the Ministry for Higher Education to reopen the College of Health Technology, Jega, with immediate effect.

The order was sequel to entreaties by the Jega community led by the state former Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Atiku Bunu, during a thank you visit to the area by the governor on Thursday.

The institution was closed by the government more than a month ago as a result of violent protest by students.

Atiku Bunu, speaking on behalf of thousands of PDP supporters who defected to the APC, appealed to the governor to order for the reopening of the College to avoid disruption to the academic calendar of the students.

The former Commissioner, who is a close confidant of Senator Muhammad Adamu Alieru, informed Comrade Nasir Idris, that the remarkable achievements of the governor coupled with his love for the people of Kebbi, motivated them to return to the APC to join hands with him to accelerate the pace of development.

“Your Excellency, all top notches of the PDP in Jega local government area are now with you in the APC, we are with you in recognition of your penchant for growth and progress of our dear state.

“The people of Jega are experiencing gully erosion in some areas, while the river bank under the bridge, (bakin-gulbi) is littered with refuse that is polluting the river, help us to evacuate it,” Bunu appealed.

In response, Idris, consented to the requests and directed the relevant government authorities to take action.

“I am in Jega to say thank you for your support and solidarity with me before, during and after the last general elections that gave APC victory, culminating in my ascension as the governor of Kebbi state.

“Since assumption of power, the record of achievement of incumbent administration is glaring to see, we have improved the quality of life of our people, the government has carried out massive infrastructural development, including roads and building structures.

“When I met with traditional rulers, religious leaders and elders, prior to my entry into the arena, I listened to all the complaints put forward, and will take necessary action.

“I have ordered the construction of additional classrooms to decongest multitude of students in a single class, I have also directed the erection of fence around the General Hospital, while Mosques will receive the refurbishment required”, he said.
