Kebbi government to spend N2.5billion on renovation of schools 

About N2.5billion has been earmarked by Kebbi state government on the construction and renovation of schools in the 21 local government areas of the state. 

86 new schools would be constructed while rehabilitation work would be carried out on 224 existing ones. 

The Executive Secretary of the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Hassan Umar, announced this at a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi this Thursday. 

He said the government would procure 7215 sets of furniture for classrooms and build three computer laboratories in schools equipped with ICT accessories to provide digital learning to pupils and students. 

Umar further announced that wall fencing would be erected around five schools for security purposes, while 62 toilets would be constructed in various schools for sanitary hygiene in addition to eight motorised boreholes. 

The executive secretary said the government would also build one hall and two hostels for tsangaya schools. 

He indicated that the entire work would be completed within six weeks duration. 

Alhaji Umar made it clear that the rehabilitation scheme was aimed at improving learning environment to pave way for quality education in consonance with the pronouncement of Governor Nasir Idris of placing premium on educational development in his capacity as a professional teacher.
