Kebbi deputy governor dissociates self from PDP’s call on power transmission

Kebbi state deputy governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, has dissociated himself from the press statement by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for power transmission to him by the governor when he travels to the Hajj 2024.

The PDP had issued a statement in Birnin Kebbi urging the state governor to transmit power to the deputy governor as he prepares to depart for pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia for smooth continuation of governance.

The PDP based its argument on Section 190 (1)(2) of the Constitution.

In a reaction, the Senior Special Assistant to the deputy governor, Ibrahim Adamu Argungu said no time whatsoever, had the governor failed to transmit power to his deputy even in the case of a day’s absence.

“We are amazed at the so-called pretentious claim of the opposition to the alleged non-existence of power vacuum in Kebbi State”,

“For the avoidance of doubt, Kebbi state is exceptional among all states in Nigeria where an excellent harmonious working relationship exists between the governor and his deputy.

“We hope and pray that the most cordial working relationship that existed between them will continue to persist for the benefit of the good people of Kebbi state”, the statement concluded.
