Kebbi commences dualisation of N7.2bn Argungu old bye pass road

The Kebbi state government has commenced the dualisation of the old bye pass road in Argungu at the cost of N7.2 billion, to be completed in 12 months.

The state Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdullahi Umar Muslim, who said the total length of the road covered 6.4 kilometres, explained that, the project includes removal of structures to make way for the new road, construction of drainages to channel water to fadama enclave and replacement of water pipes.

“Dualisation scheme costs N6.8 billion, compensation for demolished houses, N340 million while N64 million will be spent on replacement of water pipes,” the commissioner said.

Flagging off the project in Argungu, Tuesday, Governor Nasir Idris said his administration would execute other road projects in the emirate simultaneously.

“The old bye pass road undergoing dualisation in Argungu is Federal road, but I believe that our people are the major users of the road. The administration will transform Argungu into a befitting Emirate headquarters like its counterparts in the country.

“The dualised road will also be beautified with solar street lights to brighten the city. We shall strictly monitor execution of the project to conform with specifications and quality,” the governor said.

Managing Director of the construction firm, Dr. Hassan Mahdi, pledged to complete the job in 6 months in accordance with guidelines and specifications.
