Kebbi: Clean, safe environment best preventive medicine – Idris

 

 

The Kebbi state governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has identified safe and clean environment as the most profound measure and preventive medicine against diseases and illnesses.

This was his candid assertion at the flag off of the reintroduction of monthly environmental sanitation exercise weekend in Birnin Kebbi. 

Represented by the deputy governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, the governor stated that his administration decided to reintroduce and reinvigorate the monthly programme because of its peculiar importance to human health and longevity.

“Clean environment and clean drinking water are highly necessary to the wellbeing of people to reduce airborne and waterborne diseases.

“My administration will maintain the enviable health position of Kebbi state to ensure that our people are healthy citizens and productive members of the society,” he said.

The governor cautioned the people not to expose themselves to dangers and hazards through dirtiness and unclean surroundings to ward off diseases, saying illnesses are preventable if communities keep clean environment and drink clean water.

Upgrading Ibadan Federal College of Agriculture’ll enhance capacity – Olajide

The chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Hon. Adedeji Olajide,  weekend said upgrade of the Federal College of Agriculture Ibadan into a Federal University of Technology, will enhance its capacity to produce high-level manpower in agriculture, technology, and other related fields. 

Hon. Olajide stated this in a statement signed by his media aide, Tolu Mustapha.

Already, the bill seeking the upgrade has scaled second reading on the floor of the House of Representatives. 

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/ Ibadan South-West federal constituency maintained that the bill is to provide quality education in agriculture and related fields, thereby boosting food security and economic development in Nigeria. 

“The upgrade will enhance the institution’s capacity to produce high-level manpower in agriculture, technology, and other related fields,” he said.

Hon Olajide added, “The bill, which has received widespread support from stakeholders, including the academia, farmers, and other experts in the field of agriculture, will revolutionise agriculture manpower production and training in Nigeria.”
