The Kebbi state government has agreed in principle to welcome Chinese investors to assemble electric tricycles in the state through the establishment of an assembly plant.
An assembled electric tricycle was introduced to the government through the Kebbi Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA), in Birnin Kebbi Wednesday.
Representative of the company, WECAN, who is the vice chancellor, Iconic University, Sokoto, Dr. Shadi Sabeh, made the presentation of the product after which he test rode the tricycle in company of KIPA officials to the office of the Head of Service for display.
“High cost of fuel has negative multiplier effect navigating hardship arising from transportation burden among the populace.
“Our proposal is to provide 1,000 pieces of electric tricycles to Kebbi state and this is sustainable, cost effective and will reduce transportation burden, especially on civil servants.
“The company is strongly positioned to establish an assembly plant for the assembly of electric tricycles in Kebbi,” Dr. Shadi said.
In a remark, the director-general, KIPA, Dr. Kabir Ahmad Kamba, said the state government was delighted to receive the proposal of the Chinese firm to supply electric tricycles to the state and set up an assembly plant.
