Katsina trains 250 female students on rape, hard drug prevention

The Katsina state government has sponsored the training of 250 school girls on the danger of hard drugs and protection against rapist.
The five-day training workshop was conducted at the NYSC camp in Katsina.
The special adviser on girl child education Hajiya Binta Umar, said all the 250 school girls were drawn from primary and secondary schools across the 34 local government areas.
She said, the girls, who were selected from different background, were kept in the camp with the view to encouraged unity, friendship and interaction among them.

According to her, the school girls were fully trained on moral lessons pertaining Islamic perspective, child rights, dangers of hard drugs and how to protect themselves against rape.
She said, the young school girls were prepared and empowered to face the current challenges of life being faced by adolescent’s girl child.
Binta said, the selected girls benefitted with acquisition skills on various aspect such as cookery, leather work, bag and shoe making within the camping period.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari, who was represented by his deputy,  Alh. Mannir Yakubu, said the present administration was committed to the development of education as one of its priority.
He pointed out that the largest chunk of 2016 budget was allocated to education to help underscore government readiness on the sector.
He charged the girls to make judicious used of what they were taught.
