Katsina to recruit 54 doctors, 600 nurses

Katsin state governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has said the state government will recruit 54 consultant medical doctors for hospitals across the state. Masari disclosed this when he received the management of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina led by its Medical Director, Dr. Suleiman Bello Muhammad, who paid him a courtesy call at government house, Katsina.

The governor announced that 600 nurses, para- medical and auxiliary staff would also be recruited this year for hospitals across the state. Masari explained that the restoration agenda being executed in the health sector was meant to reduce medical trips within Nigeria and abroad by indigenes seeking for medical attention.

The governor announced that the city scan and other medical equipment installed by the APC administration in Amadi Rimi Special Medical Centre had started yielding positive results in terms of provision of medical care to the citizenry.

The governor was happy with the management of the medical centre for localising the services of the centre for the ordinary people of the state. The governor assured that the state government would direct KASROMA to look into the request for asphalting the ring road in the hospital. He also assured that government would continue to partner with the management of the federal medical centre to enhance health care in the state.

Earlier, the medical director, Dr Muhammad had told the governor that he was at Government House with the management to show appreciation for the support and assistance being rendered to the medical centre since 2015. Dr Suleiman specifically commended the governor for instituting a monthly grant of N250, 000 to the medical centre, which had for once not been paid since assumption of office of the governor.
