Katsina farmers enjoy subsided fertilizer worth N7bn —Dep gov

The Kastina state deputy governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, Monday, said under the state’s agriculture restoration programme, farmers have benefited from subsided fertilizer worth N7billion.

Yakubu said under the programme, a bag of fertilizer is sold to farmers at the cost of five thousand naira (N5000) each.

The deputy governor stated  this at the 7th  annual lecture and award of Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna.

He said the state has identified ariculture as the main stay of its economic development, adding  that the rice and cotton production is receiving a boost under the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) supported anchored borrower programme.

Yakubi said the state government had rehabilitated dams Deberam, Ruwan Sanyi , Masari ,Masabil and Tafoki at the cost N500million.

The deputy governor also said government had

 procured and distributed 150 tractors for mechanised agricultural production in the state. 

He stressed the need for the sustenance of Sardauna legacies in governance and for continued national development.
