Kanu: Sit-at-home subsists in Enugu despite ban

Notwithstanding that Enugu state government is doing everything possible to stop the sit-at-home order in Enugu, the residents seemed to be bent on observing the Sit-at-home order.

The hustling and jostling that usually characterise roads in Enugu state capital has reduced.

Most commercial banks, petrol stations and markets were under lock and key when our correspondent monitored the compliance in Enugu metropolis Monday.

In spite of Gov. Peter Mbah’s effort to stop the sit-at-home completely because of the negative socio-economic effect it is having on the people, many residents still preferred to sit-at- home even when the IPOB that instituted it has banned it. It is believed that because of Nnamdi Kanu’s continued detention, people are still observing the order.

“I think the sit-at-home has continued because government has refused to release the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.  Everybody thought the Supreme Court would release him, but it didn’t.  Most people are not happy and this might be the reason why they are observing the sit-at-home,” a resident said.
