Kano to train 2,000 women on vocational skills

Kano state government has expressed its determination to train more than 2,000 Women on the acquisition of vocational skills for the Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje administration self-reliance initiatives to succeed. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 125 women trained by the state government on vocational skills held in Kano yesterday, the Commissioner for Women Aff airs and Social Development, Hajiya Yardada Maikano Bichi, said the training had come at a time when women in the state were in need of such empowerment to earn a living.

She said the Ganduje administration had placed high premium on empowering Women to stand on their feet in the face of the prevailing economic challenge adding that government had committed huge resources in training those who had in the past benefi tted from various empowerment programmes. She said the Ministry had secured the nod of the state government in training the women that had graduated, pointing out that the skills they acquired would assist them in creating sustainable self-reliance jobs for themselves in addition to fi ghting the scourge of unemployment and poverty.

She said “empowerment is one of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s cardinal thrusts,” adding that he had demonstrated his sincerity and commitment in that regard. According to her, women in the state have every reason to give his administration a pass mark on the empowerment scheme.
