Kano Pillars fan faces court charges over goal celebration

By Wale Olawale Kano A Kano Pillars fan will be dragged to court for encroaching on the fi eld of play, in a week 12 Nigeria Professional Football League match between Pillars and Enyimba of Aba on Sunday evening at Sani Abacha Stadium. Kano pillars FC Security offi cials confi rmed the arrest of one Ibrahim Muhammad Bello Panshekara , who dramatically evaded the eagle eyes of security personnel and invaded the fi eld of play, while play was on to celebrate his team third goal with Gambo Muhammad whom he hugged, before security operatives apprehended and whisked him away.

Media offi cer of the Kano side, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa disclosed that the apprehended fan is in police custody, stating that the management of Kano Pillars will ensure the alleged culprit is prosecuted in the court of law for alleged disruption of a public function . He said the decision by the management of Kano pillars FC to prosecute the erring fan is aimed to serve as a deterrent to Kano football fans, who may nurture the idea to emulate same act.

Malikawa urged Kano Pillars fans to always conduct themselves in a way and manners that are in tandem with the rules governing the game. “Th e management of the club would not fold its arms and watch some unpatriotic citizens dent the image of the club, Kano state and the nation in general” Malikawa concluded.
