Kano Pillars draw Enugu Rangers at home

Kano Pillars yesterday fought against all the odds to earn away point against Enugu Rangers to take over the leadership of the Nigeria Professional League.
Rangers took the lead in the first half of the encounter, but Pillars got the equalizer in the late minute of the excruciating encounter.
However, Kano Pillars assistant coach Ahmed Garba has said the club will struggle to replace the late Chinedu Udoji.
The veteran defender died in a car accident on Monday and Garba stated that the team will find it difficult to get another player as committed as Udoji.
“I have always been amazed at the work rate of Udoji since he joined Kano Pillars,” Garba told the league’s official website.
“He is so committed and dedicated to his job that it is the only thing we know of him. He doesn’t drink and engage in other social activities.
Udoji, who was a defender-cum-midfielder, had joined Pillars from NPFL side Enyimba in 2017.
“He was a very gentle player but firm on the pitch. It will be so hard for Pillars to find a committed player as such as Udoji,” he continued.
“I know he doesn’t keep late nights and he has led by example throughout his stay with us. He was a player I loved so much and it was the reason I could not gather the courage to go inside to look at his dead body when we got to the mortuary.
“I was told he went to visit his friends at Enyimba’s hotel after the match and after they had chatted for so long till the early hours of the morning (on Monday) he decided to leave for his place.”
