Kano state government in collaboration with development partners have procured about six and half million pieces of mosquito nets which would soon be distributed to people in the state, especially pregnant women and children who were the most vulnerable.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, stated this while receiving the consignment on behalf of the state government.
Yusuf said government was highly committed towards fighting the spread of malaria in Kano and its environs, adding that some of the measures put in place by the government were the provision of anti-malaria drugs in the hospitals, mosquito nets, routine immunisation of children under-five, as well as free ante-natal care for pregnant women and monthly sanitation exercise amongst others.
While urging people in the state to complement government’s efforts in that direction, the commissioner stressed that the issue of healthcare delivery was of paramount importance to the government in view of the giant strides so far recorded in the last three years.
