Kano partners China on improved IGR

Kano state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Inspur Group of China, for upgrade of its tax authority processes, with a view to improving its revenue base in the face of dwindling revenue allocation Inspur is one of the largest global datacenters and cloud computing solutions provider in the world, which provides IT products and services to over 100 countries across continents.

Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, signed on behalf of the state government while the Vice President of Inspur, Mr. Peter Huang, signed on behalf of his company.

In a press statement, the MOU, which was signed in the presence of the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the company management, also covers improvement in city sustainability and inclusiveness by fully utilising the internet to make smart responses to various demands of public services, data and grains management.

Ganduje said in a speech after the signing ceremony that, “the agreement aims to enhance the position of Kano as a mega city capable of rubbing shoulders with other cities across the world.

“It is to strengthen the state’s capacity in some key areas like security, through the implementation of the safe city system, revenue generation, agricultural sector particularly grains management in view of the fact that Kano has the biggest grains market in West Africa, the Dawanau Market”, he explained.

In addition, he revealed that the Kano state University of Science and Technology would soon sign an MoU with Inspur for smart computer, noting that Kano stands to benefi t a lot from the expertise of the company.

Meanwhile, Ganduje has asked the Chinese investors to take advantage of the huge mineral deposits in the state, for mutual benefi t.

He assured that his administration would provide free land and tax incentives to individuals and organizations willing to invest in the state Th e governor made the call during a meeting with the President of Gold City Chamber of Commerce who is also the group chairman of Shandong Gold King Group, Mr Wen Yonglin, in his offi ce.
