Kano monarch declares support for anti-graft fight

The Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir, has expressed the determination of his emirate council in supporting the war against corruption initiated by the Dispute Resolutions and Development Initiative, a Kano based Non-governmental Organization.

Addressing the executive director, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Yahaya and his entourage who paid him an advocacy visit at his palace in Gaya Monday, Abdulkadir said there was no better time to fight the hydra-headed monster of corruption than now.

According to the monarch, the time has come for all the patriotic citizens in the country to rise to the challenge of riding the nation of all the vestiges of corruption and   disturbing spate of brigandage in both low and high places.

He however, stressed that no nation could ever attain the height of greatness, fame and honour with the fight against corruption relegated to   the background adding that a corrupt free nation is bound to excel and speedily prosper in every sphere of human endeavour.

The monarch also expressed the readiness of the Gaya emirate council in working with  relevant stakeholders in fine-tuning the crusade against sharp corrupt practices   being spearheaded NGO.

Speaking earlier, Yahaya said they were at the emir’s palace on an advocacy visit aimed to seek the traditional ruler’s support and encouragement in waging the battle to stamp out corruption in all its ramifications.

He however stated that no democratic system system the world over, could ever be feasible and realistic with sharp and unwholesome practices being promoted to high heavens by some unpatriotic politicians and public office holders wreaking havoc in the corridors of power.
