Kano state government has formally declared a total war against the menace of sodomy, lesbianism and drugs abuse, promising to expand the scope of massive sensitisation in schools and all the nooks and crannies of all the 44 local government areas of the state.

According to him, it is the responsibility of the Hisbah Board to chart a positive course of ridding the society of destructive social vices which had eaten deep into the body fabric of the society.
Daurawa said the menace of sodomy had led God to destroy the entire followers of one of the holy prophets as a reward for their sinful disposition in defy the gospel of abstention against the dubious practice, stressing that perpetrators of such an evil act would have no exit to escape the wrath of Allah.
He, however, stated that the responsibility of guarding against the menace “lies with the Islamic scholars, traditional rulers and good Samaritan in the society, pointing out that social vices could only be tackled with collective effort and constant whistle blowing.
On the persistent cases of lesbianism among women, the Islamic scholar maintained that the Hisbah Board had dealt with so many reported cases among women in Kano by taking a punitive action on those who were accused of traumatising their victims.
He stressed that nobody, no matter his status in the society, “is above the laws stipulated by constituted authorities to fight glaring social vices in the society,” saying the officials of the Kano Hisbah Board were working in tandem with relevant security organisations in the state in tackling the proliferation of social vices.
