Kano: 789,000 pupils benefit from Yusuf’s free uniforms 

 

In his effort to consolidate his grip on the education sector in Kano, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state has distributed free uniforms to 789000 pupils across all the 44 local government areas in Kano.

Speaking at the event in Kano Government House Monday, Governor Yusuf stated that education being one of his major cardinal thrust would continue to be at the higher rung of the ladder for the indigene of the state to have a genuine taste of the dividend of democracy. 

According to him, no democratic system could ever be feasible with the education sector neglected, adding that his administration had seen the compelling need for  lending credence to the sector to wax stronger.

He, however, stated that upholding public trust was the most needed for leaders in respective positions of authority to prove their mettle, saying that such a trust must not be compromised under any pretext. 

He pointed out that the predicament of the out of school children had become a disturbing phenomenon which must be tackled with vigour, affirming that he had conceived the idea of declaring state of emergency on education for standing obstacles to be surmounted.

The governor who spoke in the midst of tens of thousands of  people who were on hand to witness the epoch-making event, said there was the compelling need for parents in the state to buckle up in the face of the prevailing challenges and stressed that educating children was akin to educating the entire society. 

He further revealed that education was on the verge of collapse in the hands of the immediate past administration, lamenting that the entire academic structure, most especially at the primary level were in shambles.

He stated that his government had taken steps to restore sanity into the dilapidated system.
