Kaduna students, residents benefit from Polaris, Ear Centre’s free medical outreach

Hundreds students of the Government Girls High School Unguwan Rimi Kaduna North have benefitted from Polaris Health Care Limited’s 2023 free medical outreach.

The medical outreach was conducted in collaboration with the National Ear Care Centre, Kaduna recently.

Blueprint learnt that, while the exercise lasted, about 900 people from the Government Girls Secondary School Unguwan Rimi Kaduna North benefitted from the exercise, while over 850 also benefitted from the outreach held at Unguwan Pama District Head’s residence at Sabon Tasha in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state.

Speaking during the exercise, the Medical Director National Ear Care Center Kaduna, Dr Mustapha Abubakar and the Chairman Organising Committee, Dr Muhammad Sani, told newsmen that the move by the duo became imperative largely because access to health care is becoming a huge burden on Nigerian citizens.

On why they made it free, Abubakar stated that the high rate of poverty, lack of medical insurance and medical personnel was the driving force, saying poverty remained a big setback to citizens’ access to medicare.

“We normally have this kind of outreach every year and the essence is to create awareness for the general public on ear, nose, throat and other diseases.

“We usually identify communities and attend to their health needs, especially ear, nose and throat. Our doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory audiologists are ready for free consultations, investigations, and treatments. And for those that need further evaluation we send them to our hospital. Some may require surgery and we do it for free,” he said.
