A member of the House of Representatives, representing Kaduna South federal constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Hussaini Ahmed Abdulkareem, has donated various items to over 5,500 constituents, including cars, sewing machines, motorcycle, grinding machines, among others.
The ceremony which took place at the Santos Football Club in Makera, Kaduna state, recently marked the 6th edition of the empowerment programme organised by the lawmaker.
Among the beneficiaries were pastors, imams, traditional rulers, and other community leaders.
During the empowerment programme, former Kaduna state governor, Senator Mohammed Ahmed Makarfi, highlighted the importance of the programme, noting that such a large empowerment initiative had never been undertaken by any one.
He criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for its failures and warned against a potential political shift in 2027, citing the challenging economic situation that had led many to poverty.
Senator Makarfi urged beneficiaries to use materials wisely and encouraged those who did not receive this time to remain patient.
In his remarks, Hon. Abdulkareem, said the empowerment programme was to improve the lives of constituents, enabling them to contribute more effectively to the society.
He assured them that the initiative was non-discriminatory and that future distributions would reach those who were yet to benefit.
The event included the distribution of 504 Peugeot cars to 20 people, grinding machines for 200 women, and 200 sewing machines, scholarship awarded to 20 students for various degree programmes in Algeria.
The lawmaker also provided 200 motorcycles and cash grants of N100,000 each to over 1,000 individuals to help start small businesses.
