Kaduna resident appeals for Sani’s intervention over land grabbers

A Kaduna resident, Mr. Samuel Owoyale has appealed for Governor Uba Sani’s intervention in stopping the intimidation and harassment of land grabbers over his plots of land along Eastern bye-pass, near Tsohon Damishi village, Kaduna state.

Speaking to the media in Kaduna on Sunday, Owoyale said the appeal became necessary following the invasion and erection of pillars on his plots of land by unknown people. He added that it become imperative to put an end to the reckless abuse of his fundamental human rights by the purported land grabbers that have resulted in threat to public peace on different occasions.

He explained that his wife, Mrs. Sambisi Owoyale bought the said plots of land and a confirmation letter, affirming her ownership of the land, signed by the Galadima Gbagi and dated 24 June 2014 was issued and addressed to the General Manager of Kaduna State Urban and Property Development Agency (KASUPDA) seeking permission for her to develop the land.

He said that he commenced the certification of the land from Kaduna State Geographical Information Service (KADGIS) with file number 93157 with assurance that the certification process is advancing seamlessly. He expressed dismay that some people parading themselves as officials of KADGIS without any approval or document authenticating their authority could just come and start selling off not only his land but other people’s lands in the vicinity.

He lamented what seems to be the unchecked activities of land grabbers in the Tsohon Damishi area, saying that the situation has become very worrisome, while adding that their own case is quite pitiable because the purpose of acquiring the land is to build a school there that will benefit the Tsohon Damishi community but some people are trying to frustrate it.

However the new Director General of KADGIS, Bashir Garba Ibrahim is said to be working tirelessly around the clock to curtail the activities of these fraudsters. Findings revealed that the KADGIS management is putting in place measures to separate KADGIS staff from the fraudsters to enable it checkmate the activities of land grabbers in the state and put an end to their fraudulent acts.
