Kaduna radio to establish TV substation in Zaria – MD

The Kaduna state government owned media outfit, Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) says it will establish a new television substation in Zaria for active participation of residents in governance and better dissemination of government policies to the public.

Managing Director of the station Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, disclosed this during a courtesy visit by Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zaria unit on Friday in Kaduna.

Maiyaki said planned has reached advanced stage on the establishment of the television station would be domiciled at the premises of Queens FM Radio Zaria.

He said that one of the key legacies he wanted leave no matter how short he stayed as MD of  the corporation, was to do a television substation in of the headquarters of the state Northern Senatorial District.

He added that he already obtained the consent of the station Governor Mallam Uba Sani on that.

“KSMC TV is  already on Startimes, we are also free to air satellite but large chunk of people cannot afford to sustain the payment of Startimes Subscription or decoders for accessing the satellite.

“I want ensure that we have at least a two kilowatt transmitter that will cover the Senatorial District to transmit including few local governments in Central and Southern Senatorial Districts

“This is to ensure that local communities access the station on terrestrial antenna not through the satellite. This is one out of many things that I want to focus on the and complete within a shortest possible time,’’ Maiyaki said.

He commended the Union  for the visit, stressing that the unit was the  first chapel to felicitate with him over his appointment.
