The Kaduna state Police Command has arrested five kidnappers, a spiritualist, and a notorious car thief.
The command also said its men recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux and other items in recent operations.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command, ASP Mansir Hassan, said on the 5th of November, 2024, operatives from the anti-kidnapping unit raided Kundun village, arresting three suspects: Umar Haruna, Shuaibu Umar, and Hairatu Muntari.
“The suspects confessed to a series of kidnappings and revealed plans for future operations. Cattle rearer Abubakar, linked to the gang, was also detained, with eight cows, seven calves, and eight sheep seized,” the statement said.
The PPRO also stated that in another incident, police apprehended Isa Sa’adu, 25, of Agaji village, on the 8th of November, for kidnapping a three-year-old girl.
According to the PPRO, the suspect admitted to the crime, and exhibits including N400, 000 cash, a motorcycle, and a phone were recovered. Spiritualist Mohammed Sani Usman was also arrested for aiding the suspect.
“On 8th November, Tafa Division police arrested 50-year-old Rotimi Oyewale with a stolen Toyota Hilux, en route from Ado Ekiti to Kaduna. He confessed to stealing other vehicles delivered to a buyer in Kaduna. Efforts are underway to arrest the receiver.
“Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Abdullahi, commended the officers’ work and pledged continued efforts against crime,” the PPRO said.
