Chairman Zango Kataf local government area, Kaduna, Mr. Francis Sani, has reiterated his council’s commitment to partner any group that will work towards ensuring normalcy and lasting peace amongst communities.
He stated this during the week at Gwaben Hotel in Zonkwa, the headquarters of the local government, during a one-day community town hall meeting with security personnel and traditional leaders on building knowledge on women inclusion for effective peace- building in the North-west, organised by Global Rights in collaboration with the Kukah Centre and Community Dialogue Committee (CDC) ,Zango Kataf local government area.
The chairman, who spoke through one of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts in the local government, Mr Yusuf H. Wayo, commended the people of the local government over the relative peace being enjoyed in the area.
He applauded the organisation for selecting more than 100 people across the local government to be trained on different skills on how to improve on the peace in troubled communities of the local government.
He urged the participants to go back to their communities and inculcate the knowledge they have acquired to assist in bringing mutual respect and understanding among all citizens geared towards ensuring lasting peace in all nooks and crannies of their communities.
Earlier, the Community Liaison Officer, Global Rights, Mr Methodius Karfe, stated that the project also aims to build community resilience and increased civic participation in the North-west by situating women and women’s issues at the forefront of civic engagement and community peace-building efforts.
