Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company is set to create 15,000 direct and indirect jobs as it becomes more operational starting from next month, the company’s Managing Director, Engr. Garba Haruna said yesterday.Speaking in statement issued by the company and made available to Blueprint in Kaduna, the managing Director said that the jobs creation was part of the company’s strategic growth plan which is anchored on the employment of a young, dynamic and energetic workforce that will propel the company to achieve its set objective of providing efficient power to its customers.
According to Engr. Garba, the company has set up a recruitment portal, where both internal and external candidates can apply for the available openings.
He said existing staff of the company whose contracts expire at the end of next month (May) are eligible to reapply for the available jobs and they will go through a screening and selection process before a formal interview session to determine their suitability.
The Managing Director said external candidates are expected to submit their curriculum vitas and fill a pre interview form on the portal. Candidates who are found suitable shall be invited to a 1st and 2nd level interview sessions.
He said that the company will soon embark on the rehabilitation of all its sub – stations and transformers across the Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi states where it operates in addition to refurbishing all its power lines. An
exercise, which he said is projected to create about 15,000 direct and indirect jobs.
He further disclosed that the recruitment exercise is expected to be conducted over a period starting from next month.
Garba noted that the adoption of the new operational name, Kaduna Electric, is aimed at reflecting the new change process that is taking place in the company and also in the country, adding that the board and management of the company are also not oblivious of the change process going on and is committed to keying into it for the socio economic growth of the country.
The MD added that the public is poised to experience a new company where integrity and excellence are at the heart of its operation.
