The 2014 edition of the Kaduna Corporate League will kick off this weekend at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, with former champions, Unity Bank, and ex-runners-up, UBA, playing the opening match slated for 9.30 am.
The tournament, which is the 7th edition, has been divided into two groups. Three times champions of the tournament, Unity Bank, lead Group A which also features twice runners-up, UBA, CBN, who are making their second appearance, FCMB and Microcred, while Group B involves defending champions, Fidelity Bank, Zenith Bank, First Bank and Access Bank.
Other matches on the opening day will see FCMB play against CBN, Fidelity Bank commence their title defence against Zenith Bank, while First Bank will trade tackles with Access Bank, Microcred are drawn bye till next weekend.
The first two teams in each of the two groups will qualify for the semi-finals; the final has been schedule for March 22nd, with athletics finals of the men and women 100 metres slated as side attraction.
The chief organiser, Vincent Akinbami, said the 2014 edition of the tournament would be the best in the last six years.
”Everything has been put in place to bring so much fun to help achieve the objective of the tournament of comradeship among staff of financial institutions and on the final day some eminent Nigerians will be recognized,” he disclosed.
He added that the tournament had produced star players in the sector like Seun Aminu of UBA who won the Best Player award in the Lagos Bankers Cup after appearing in the tourney.
The tournament is organised by Bestworth Brokers and supported by Wadson International and Bertway International.
