The Islamic movement under the leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Ya’qoub El-Zakzaky, has condemned the attack on Tundun Biri village.
The movement further described the Army attack as unacceptable and condemnable.
It called for an investigation and compensation of the victim’s families.
The attack which was reportedly carried out via a military drone against the village in Kaduna took place Sunday.
The Nigerian Army has explained its position on the attack few days ago. The army spokesman said the attack was a mistake.
But the movement in a press release made available to Blueprint through it’s Spokesman, Sheikh Sidi Munir Mainasara Sokoto insisted that the villagers who were in their hundreds were Muslim faithful within the village as they gathered to celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWA).
The statement reads: “The purpose of the gathering was to celebrate Maulud; thus, hundreds of Muslims faithful within and nearby the village gathered within the vicinity of the village to celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWA). Unfortunately, the army strike befell the Maulud gathering.
“According to eyewitness, the strike happened several times. The first strike happened around 11:00 p.m., and people rushed to provide first aid. After 30 minutes from the first strike, the second strike hit the village.”
