Kaduna bomb mishap: Balarabe visits Tudun Biri, assures victims of support, receives defence minister, CDS 

 

The Deputy Governor of Kaduna state, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, on Tuesday led a delegation of senior government officials, religious and community leaders to Tudun Biri to condole with the affected families of the aerial bombing that killed over 80 people and left 66 others injured. 

The Overseeing Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna state, Mr Samuel Aruwan, said in a statement on Tuesday that the deputy governor received on a condolence visit a delegation led by the Minister of State Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle.

The delegation on a condolence to the government and people of Kaduna state also comprises the Chief of Defence Staff, General Chris Musa, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Kana. 

While at Tudun Biri, Dr. Balarabe on behalf of the Kaduna state government again expressed heartfelt sympathies to the victims of the attack and their families.

The deputy governor disclosed that the state government has established a committee comprising senior government officials, religious leaders, and representatives of the Nigerian Army to oversee the mechanisms of compensation and other forms of government assistance to the victims.

Dr Balarabe equally informed the people that in response to the immediate needs of the affected community, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has been directed to deliver relief items to support the victims, adding that the state government has taken responsibility for the medical care of the injured victims, who have been evacuated to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, where they are receiving necessary medical attention.

The deputy governor was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, senior government officials, the Commissioner of Police Kaduna state Command, Musa Yusuf Garba, the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Abdul Enenche, the Chairman of JNI Kaduna state chapter, Mohammed Shafiu Abdullahi, the Chairman of Fityanul Islam Kaduna state, and the District Head of Rigasa, Alhaji Aminu Idris among others.
