A top judicial officer with the FCT Judiciary, in company of another friend, on Tuesday survived kidnap and armed robbery attempt along Abuja – Kaduna road.
The judicial officer, who does not want his name in print, told our reporter that the incident happened around 6.30pm near Jere, while returning from Kaduna where he had gone on a visit.

According to him, the gunmen whom he described as Fulani, failed in their bid when their gun jammed when they attempted shooting.
Narrating his ordeal, he said: “This evening at about 6.30, when we were returning from Kaduna, we encountered some Fulani people, with one of them carrying gun at Iddah market, near Jere, on Abuja Kaduna road, very close to a police post.
“The FCT Hilux van attached to Lower Usuma Dam was ahead of us and we were following. But at a point, we had problem with the car radiator and wanted to stop. And not too far away, we sighted some Fulani men with clubs, machetes and gun, and my friend advised we should not stop.

“And with courage, we dragged the car on, and one of them attempted to fire but the gun jammed. That was just the saving grace for us. It would have been a different story if not for God’s intervention. This incident happened exactly at the former military checkpoint.”
Asked if they were kidnappers, he said,” they could be either kidnappers or armed robbers, I can’t tell, but one thing I do now is that they have devilish plan.”
The lucky judicial officer appealed to security agents to further beef up security along the road, saying kidnappers and armed robbers are fast turning the route to a nightmare for motorists.
