Jubilation in Ondo community as Buratai takes Baakore title

Former Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has been crowned the Baakore of Akure Kingdom, sparking jubilation among the witnesses of the grand occasion.

The paramount ruler of Akure Kingdom, who conducted the installation during the 2023 Ulefunta festival, emphasised Buratai’s immense contribution to his kingdom and Nigeria at large, leading to the conferment of the chieftaincy title “Baakore,” which translates in English to mean “Promoter of the Harvest.”

“This honor is to express our love for him as our son, and our belief in his ability to further promote positive development,” added Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladetoyinbo.

One of the community members, Mr. Taye Johnson, who spoke to the reporter, expressed his happiness about the installation, believing it would bring more blessings to their kingdom.

Mr. Johnson praised Buratai for his dedicated and meritorious service to the nation during his tenure as the Chief of Army Staff. He believes that Buratai’s positive track record, professional pedigree, and sense of patriotism will significantly benefit Akure Kingdom.

Another resident, Mrs. Alaja Abdulraheem, commended the Oba of Akure Kingdom for conferring the coveted chieftaincy title upon Buratai. She urged the Oba to continue inviting capable individuals like Buratai into the kingdom, as their contributions would go a long way toward the overall development of the kingdom.

In his response, Buratai said he was honored by the coronation. He conveyed his gratitude to the people of Akure Kingdom for finding him worthy of this important title and assured them that they would not regret it.
