Jonathan warns against vices during 2015 general elections

President Goodluck Jonathan at the weekend urged Nigerian youths to shun negative vices from politicians and vote for credible candidates with proven mettle for leadership, in the coming 2015 general elections
The President gave the warning on Saturday at the 2nd convocation ceremony of the Nigeria Turkish Nile University, Abuja.
“I would like to point out especially to our youths that the general elections are fast approaching, this calls for responsible engagement and participation.

“While encouraging you to vote for credible candidates of your choice, I urge you to shun all invitations to political thugerry or acts that can undermine free, fair and credible elections,” The President stated.
Jonathan, who was represented by the Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund(TETFund),Suleiman Elias Bogoro, also said Federal Government was determined to win the war against terrorism, adding that challenges of insurgency in Nigeria was calculated to undermine our cohesiveness as a people.

He said efforts were on to end the disparity between Bachelor’s degree holders and Higher National Diploma in the public service.
While discouraging over dependence on paper qualifications, the President said the focus of his administration was to address comprehensively the challenges facing all sectors of education.
Earlier, Vice Chancellor of the Nigerian Turkish Nile University, Huseyin Sert, said the concept of the university was to strengthen bi-lateral relationship between both countries.
About 181 students graduated at the ceremony, with 10 of them bagging first class honors, 76 second class upper, 83 second class lower and 12 third class of degrees.
