President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday held a security council meeting which was attended by newly appointed service chiefs namely Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Kenneth Tobiah Jacob Minimah; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Usman Jibrin; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu.
Also in attendance were the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar; Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke; Minister of the Interior, Mr. Abba Moro; Director-General of Department of State Security, Mr. Ita Ekpeyong; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mr. Ayo Oke. were also at the meeting
The new service chiefs declined to talk to journalists.
Meanwhile, baring last minute change, the first National Council of State meeting for this year has been scheduled for today by 11am at the Council Chambers of State House, Abuja.
The council is chaired by the president with vice-president as deputy while former Presidents and Heads of State, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, current and former Chief Justices of Nigeria, state governors and the Minister of Justice serve as members.
The council advises the president on issues concerning National Population Commission, Independent National Electoral Commission, National Judicial Council, award of national honours and prerogative of mercy, amongst other things.
