Director of Diaspora Affairs, Goodluck Support Group, Dr Godwin C. Duru, has sounded it loud and clear that President Goodluck Jonathan had achieved for the country more than what past presidents had achieved and, therefore, deserved re-election.
Duru stated this after meeting with state coordinators of South-east/South-south Initiative for Jonathan, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) which he founded to mobilise support for President Goodluck Jonathan which took place at the Summit Hotel Owerri, last Saturday.
He said the Jonathan administration had registered itself in all aspects of governance, namely human development, creation of employment, housing, roads, infrastructure, railway, aviation and even education where he had recorded more success in the North than in any other part of the country, especially through the almajiri system of education.
“Also in economy, he has achieved. Go to Ghana, Togo, South Africa, etc, and compare our economy with theirs, the difference is clear. You will find out that Nigeria’s economy has been transformed on all aspects.”
Duru, who had organised many seminars, conferences, talk shows for Jonathan in the past, advised Nigerians never to change the winning team as the president who had already laid a solid foundation in the country would perform greater than he had done if given another four years.
He described Jonathan as “somebody that has done well in continuity,” adding that he “is not a tyrant, a killer, a tribalist but a true nationalist.”
Also speaking, the National President of South East/South South Initiative for Jonathan, Hon Mike Egbuchulam, said the organisation was set up to sensitise Nigerians on the programmes of President Jonathan whom he said had performed as his good works were there for Nigerians to see.
He described President Jonathan as “a special gift from God” to Nigerians whose Transformation Agenda cut across tribal and cultural divide, adding that his organisation would not allow the antics of the opposition to materialise.
