Joint security outfit dismantles IPOB/ESN stronghold in Imo community

The Commissioner of Police, Imo state command, CP Aboki Danjuma, alongside other service commanders, Wednesday, urged residents to continue offering actionable intelligence to aid ongoing security operations targeting criminal elements in the state.

This appeal was made during a visit on December 3, 2024, to assess the progress of joint security efforts in clearing a notorious hideout in Aku, Okigwe LGA, linked to the criminal group led by the ESN commander “Gentle” and his group.

The police commissioner’s entourage included Brigadier General U.A. Lawal, Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade in Obinze, Commander Naval Base, Oguta, the director of DSS, the Commissioner for Homeland Security, and the SSA to the Governor on Security Affairs. The purpose was to evaluate the progress of the ongoing operation and boost the morale of the joint security forces which made up of the operatives of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Police, DSS, and NSCDC.

The operation, which has been underway for several weeks, has successfully dismantled a significant base used by the group in launching violent attacks on innocent citizens and security personnel. 

This breakthrough has led to the arrest of key suspects and has significantly improved security in the state.
