The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, LAUTECHTH, Osogbo, has appealed to royal fathers and other stakeholders to intervene in the LAUTECH crisis and resolve it in the interest of the masses.
The union appealed to the government of Osun and Oyo to come together and find lasting solution to end the persistent crisis in the institution.
Speaking at a press conference held in LAUTECHTH, Osogbo, on Monday, the Chairman of the union, Comrade M. A. Moronkeji, and the Secretary, Comrade K. A. Onisade, called on governors Gboyega Oyetola and Seyi Makinde, to put an end to the prolonged ownership tussle.
The union said, “Prior to the crisis which commenced in 2010, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Osogbo had always benefited adequately from the sponsorship of both Oyo and Osun state governments.
“Since the year 2013 when the crisis became escalated, Osun state government has been solely responsible for the financial obligations of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo which includes and not limited to salaries and emoluments of staff, capital projects, infrastructural development, etc.
“Osun state has been fair and committed to the joint ownership of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, that staff members in the hospital comprises indigenes from both Oyo and Osun states without any form of discrimination or intimidation.
“We appeal to the two owner state governments to kindly find lasting solution to the crisis and channel a way forward for the smooth running of the institutions so as to avoid the attendant implications of the crisis on the masses.
“Our royal fathers, members of the public, pressure groups and opinion leaders should please intervene towards achieving the permanent resolution of the crisis.”
