It added that the committee “is charged with the responsibility of studying critically the report submitted to Council by a committee on verification of state-owned landed properties and come up with far-reaching recommendations.”

It added that Council noted the resolution of the Northern Governors’ Forum to create an economic structure and fund that would enable the states to establish financial institutions to cater for Interest of the states and assisting the region in charting its economic destiny.
“It is against this background, therefore, that the Council has approved the payment of N50 million each month, beginning from January, 2017 as part of the
agreed minimum monthly contribution by each of the 19 Northern states
to an account to be created by the Forum. This fund is expected to metamorphose into a fund for the purpose stated.”
