The Jigawa state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdullahi Muhammad Kainuwa, Monday, said the state government is committed to improving health facilities across the state.
He stated this in an interview with journalists following a meeting with the state House of Assembly Committee on Health which was held on Monday at the Assembly Committee Conference Room.
The meeting was organised by a nongovernment organisation, Jigawa MNCH Accountability Forum (JiMAF) supported by Lafiya Project which questioned the execution of the 2024 health sector budget performance.
However, the programme was part of the Jigawa dissemination of findings from 2024 health sector budget performance and 2025 approved budget analysis conducted by the JiMAF.
Kainuwa said the state government has made significant investments in the health sector, including the construction of new hospitals, primary health care centers, and the provision of medical equipment.
He added that in the last one and a half years, the state has completed several major projects, including the construction of a permanent site for the School of Nursing in Hadejia, a General Hospital in Ringim, and a General Hospital in Kafin Hausa.
He further stated that the state government is also committed to revitalising existing health facilities and ensuring that they are equipped to provide quality healthcare services to the people.
He said the 2025 budget is focused on building on the progress made in the previous years and ensuring that the state’s health facilities are able to meet the needs of the growing population.
He noted that in addition to improving health facilities, the state government is also committed to ensuring that the people of Jigawa state have access to quality healthcare services.
He said this includes providing training and support for healthcare workers, as well as ensuring that the state’s primary health care centers are functioning effectively.
