The Jigawa state Independent Electoral Commission (JIGSIEC) has released time table for the by election of Kargo ward, Garki local government area as a result of the death of their councilor-elect.
This was announced by acting executive chairman of the commission, Hon. Auwalu Muhammad Harbo.
He made the announcement at meeting with stakeholders at the conference room of the commission.
The time table states notification of poll for by election of
Kargo Ward, Garki local government council on the 1st May, 2023, party primaries for the ward schedules to hold on the 4th May, while sales of nomination forms by the commission was fixed on the 5th May 2023 at the cost of N200,000.00 only. It was observed that submission of nomination form \ verification of candidates by JIGSIEG would be on the 9th of May.
It added that publication of names of eligible candidates by JIGSIEC would be on the 13th may, while by election at Kargo ward, Garki local government by the JISIEC, is scheduled to hold on 14th may while issue of certificate will hold on the 15th May, 2023 and re- run election if any is fixed for 20 -20223.
Addressing the gathering ,the chairman of the commission, Auwalu Mohammad Harbo, said the reason for the meeting was to inform the stakeholders about the death of the councilor for Kargo ward, Garki local government council, Jigawa state and the preparation of by election to fill in the vacuum created as a result of the death of the councilor-elect.
“Under the law establishing the commission and the law of local government election of 2008 as amended, that is why I called to inform you about the by-election,’’ he said.
