Jigawa state government has announced that it had constructed over 700 pit latrines in public schools, and mosques in order to ensure a hygienic environment and to reduce open defaecation.
The Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure and Community Development, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Gako, revealed this on a Radio Jigawa live programme marking the seventh year anniversary of the administration Sule Lamido which was monitored in Dutse, the state capital.
He said the ministry had constructed 10 public conveniences across the state, adding that over 700 hand pumps were drilled within the last six years of Governor Lamido’s administration.
Gako said the ministry had undertaken the construction of over 62 kilometres feeder roads worth over N1. 170 billion, adding that 10 towns were currently being electrified; he pointed out that when completed, it would bring it to a total of 127 towns that would have been electrified.
